Cots are located on the 3rd floor in the dorm room. Due to being on a different floor than the dance floor (2nd floor), this ends up being the quietest of the rooms when the social is in full force!

Evelyn and Derrick will be sharing their love and passion for the dance, gratefully combining the beauty of being in love together. Derrick and Evelyn love to train, learn from others, build, create and link traditional movement with the new. Together they are encouraging and inspiring students to be open-minded with the dance, to explore your natural flow thinking outside the box, and to love the creation the body allows to give in the moment, accomplishing the Brazilian ‘Neo’ Zouk in fine detail.
Join us and learn how to integrate their techniques, complimenting your movements with breath and to nourish your dance and your whole self from the inside out. Their approach will guide you to challenge yourself to grow in new ways

Evelyn Magyari Lopez
Evelyn is one of the most sought-after Brazilian Zouk artist, dance instructor, and choreographer in the world. Evelyn is born in Transylvania (Romania) and grew up in the Netherlands.
In 2006 she was confronted with her destiny "Brazilian Zouk", where she fell in love with the dance which has been her passion ever since.
Over the years, while studying and working abroad within her professional dance career, Evelyn has performed and taught in more than 30 countries all over the world. Evelyn partnered with many prolific Zouk leaders like Pasty, Adilio Porto, Mafie Zouker, Xandy Liberato and many more at international congresses.
According to Evelyn, dancing Zouk is, "Surrendering in the moment with a balanced mental and physical state, combining creativity through inner-beauty, while existing in harmony with the music”.
Evelyn embodies a unique approach to dance - an art of moving, expressing and interpreting the music internally, and from your heart. Her talents inspire dancers around the world to express their dance from their souls.

Derrick Lopez
Derrick is born in Hawaii. Early 90’s, Derrick moved to California where he first got into break dancing. He learned about power moves, which is a form of West Coast B-Boy gymnastics - break dancing.
This way of dancing focussed on spinning (windmills, air-flairs, halos), punch lining postitions and so on. From this childhood experience, Derrick increased his body mechanics, strength, flexibility and awarenesses, which led to competitions, showcases, cyphers, and dance battles.
Ballistik Crew, Waikiki B-Boys, 808 Breakers and SoulShifters Crew is Derrick’s dance lineage. His favorite part of B-Boying was training with the Boys, having fun, building each other up, becoming confident and supporting one another. Derrick has taught Break Dancing professionally in both California and Hawaii.
Adding “House” dancing in the repertoire, Derrick crewed up with SoulShifters Crew, a Hip-Hop urban crew that specializes in improv, creativity, and art such as: making music, dancing (house), b-boying and graffiti. Spending years working on body awareness through dance, Derrick naturally fell in love with Calisthenics and Yoga as well.
Coincidentally, beginning of 2016 Derrick’s first Zouk experience was an Island Zouk photoshoot with Kamacho. Shortly after that, he met Evelyn Magyari on a beach in Hawaii and “BOOM” (chick chick) the rest is history… Derrick’s wife Evelyn taught him the world of Zouk. Similarities of different dance forms have refreshed their dance experience, creativity and passion for movement.

The host city (Zouk Boise) makes personal efforts to embody as a community the following values not only as guidelines, but as a form of identity as individual dancers who are intentional, safe, and honoring towards everyone we encounter.
Much like the culture behind Brazillian Zouk; perfectionism, striving, and performance are not the main focus, when in comparison to other dance styles and communities. At Zouk Boise, we focus on establishing and maintaining connection, in addition to staying curious, open minded, and optimistic when learning new concepts. Additionally, we understand the importance of fostering healthy and safe learning environments. This is why we refrain from having multiple sources of feedback during class. Thus allowing our students to focus on, practice, and refine skills one at a time without feeling overwhelmed when covering difficult topics in class.
At the heart of a successful event, lies the foundation of the community which supports it. Hosting an event would be useless if there wasn't a group of people who collectively believed in its unified cause. For us, it is the importance of fostering not only community, but one that is healthy. It just so happens that being welcoming and friendly is already something that Boiseans are known for.
Our community is not shy and will go to great lengths to ensure that new and out of state dancers feel seen, welcomed, and are introduced to everyone and have access to the group chat as soon as possible. Additionally, organizing ballet recitals to attend, sharing secondary hobbies such as rock climbing, and hosting board game meet ups are some of the many ways that we foster intentional relationships that are formed outside of classes and dance events.
Our community is not shy and will go to great lengths to ensure that new and out of state dancers feel seen, welcomed, and are introduced to everyone and have access to the group chat as soon as possible. Tickets are Non-Refundable. However, tickets are transferrable to another attendee that is eligible to stay in the room type purchased for a $15 transfer fee.
